Manufacture smart!

[industry 4.0 conference]

Industry 4.0

Industrial IoT and Industry 4.0 are well known concepts today. However, their introduction is a considerable challenge for several Hungarian manufacturing companies, even though financial obstacles were not involved.

The introduction of Industry 4.0 is a complex and large-scale technology, IT, HR, and management task. Despite the challenge, it is worth the effort, which is why this years conference is concentrating on case studies to demonstrate the processes required to introduce Industry 4.0. Presentations will also share and analyse the pitfalls involved and show possible solutions. Such risks may include the resistance of other departments, lack of competent staff or insufficient knowledge of the technology, as well as difficulties finding the appropriate contractor.

Within the framework of the lectures and discussions, we will openly face all of these issues, and this time we will take a look back at the last half decade: where did we start on the path to industry 4.0, and where are we now?

Workshop #5: Secure Remote Access to OT Systems

György Melegh, Com-Forth - Presales & Support Engineer

In the past, with the expansion of Industry 4.0, and more recently due to the pandemic there has been significantly greater demand for access to industrial OT systems. However, it is not easy to find the ideal solution given the grey zone GSM Modems, strict IT Security Policies, practical adaptability and risk assessment, as well as Teamviewer as a well-known and not always appropriately used tool, not to mention the new and fancy AR/VR solutions waiting to break into the market. The aim of the workshop is to enable each participant to gain an insight into the ideal solution for secure remote access for their own particular OT systems. The maximum number of participants for this workshop is 15 persons. Please sign in with the video and audio switched on to ensure group work that is as effective as possible.

15:30-17:00

After the demo you will have the opportunity to create the application using the free trial version.

09:15-11:00

Workshop #1: ICS Cybersecurity Workshop

György Melegh, Com-Forth - Presales & Support Engineer

When we started to connect computers and manufacturing equipment to networks in the name of Industry 4.0 and a IoT a great many cracks in security and other risks were created. The purpose of the workshop is to work together to identify these industrial security risks and to assess how modern OT security solutions (IPS/IDS) could help to achieve an acceptable risk level of security. The maximum number of participants for this workshop is 15 persons. Please sign in with the video and audio switched on to ensure group work that is as effective as possible.

09:00-11:00

Workshop #2: Management Challenges in the Introduction of Industry 4.0

Mónika Márton, Legacy - CEO and Péter Bóna, Com-Forth - CEO

The introduction of Industry 4.0 brings along with it numerous challenges for management above and beyond the challenges pertaining to technology. The decisions that need to be made require manufacturing technology, automation and IT related knowledge. The respective decisions have an effect on employees and established processes. In order to achieve the common goals, measures must be aligned with senior management, and with the departments within the organizations, as well as with the suppliers. Furthermore, it must be insured that the changes are accepted by the operators, maintenance personnel, and engineers as well as by all the parties that will use these systems at the end of the day. Everybody must be convinced that it is essential that they make decisions based on data and that they must disregard the outdated approach of “we have always done it like that” and “this is the way it has been done for 20 years now”. People need to be persuaded to change their attitudes. During the workshop, we will bring these challenges up and seek answers together. The maximum number of participants: 15 persons. Please sign in with the video and audio switched on to ensure group work that is as effective as possible.

What Has Industry 4.0 Done for Us? – Introductory Presentation

Gábor Szabó, Microsoft Magyarország - Manufacturing Industry Executive

I worked for years as an Enterprise Architect with clients from the manufacturing industry on various manufacturing automatization projects. Manufacturing companies have very different maturity levels in respect to digitalization. Some use cutting edge solutions, others are tactical followers and there are those who have just become aware of the race. This is a swiftly changing environment and digitalization not only offers a great many advantages, but is also readily available. There are best practice solutions that are really relatively uncomplicated to introduce today. You do not necessarily need to be quicker than a lion…

AR and How We Work: The New Normal

Roman Sedivy, PTC - IoT Sales Business Development Manager - Eastern Europe & Russia

The coronavirus crisis of 2020 has changed the way we work, perhaps forever. Travel bans, lockdowns, and social distancing policies have disrupted business around the world, forcing companies to find new ways to work. The trend toward a more distributed, mobile, and flexible workforce was already clearly apparent, but the crisis has dramatically accelerated this shift and brought the use of digital technology to a new level. Augmented reality technology has the power to boost frontline worker productivity by as much as 50 per cent and reduce human errors by up to a whopping 90 percent. Transforming frontline work is in its early stages, and rapid learning is underway. But the effect on overall productivity may prove to have the greatest digital impact so far.

11:15-11:40

Case Study: Empowering technologies

Gábor Németh, Foxconn - Director, Operations and Division Head

I would like to present a history of development that follows an innovative system of ideas, which we generally identify today under the name of Industry 4.0. Five years ago, in the factory we envisioned, we imagined automated solutions, the chief objective of which was to significantly reduce work intensity. Accordingly, we systematically examined our value-creating processes and then, over time (and with practice), came to understand that the extension of human capabilities leads to much more exciting and effective outcomes.
